To unblock someone on WhatsApp, open Settings → Privacy → Blocked contacts, tap the name, and choose Unblock. They do not get a notification. Old chat history stays on your phone. If you meant “WhatsApp blocked my account,” that is a different problem — use the account recovery guide.
Unblock a contact on Android
- Open WhatsApp → tap the three dots → Settings.
- Tap Privacy → Blocked contacts.
- Tap the person or number.
- Tap Unblock.
You can also open their profile from an old chat (if it is still there) and tap Unblock at the bottom.
Unblock a contact on iPhone
- Open WhatsApp → Settings (bottom right).
- Tap Privacy → Blocked contacts.
