Last updated: 31 October 2026
Ominiflow for Google Sheets is listed on the Google Workspace Marketplace. The add-on is a Google Sheets WhatsApp integration on the official WhatsApp Business API: open a spreadsheet, pick an approved template, map columns to variables, and send personalized messages or a bulk campaign without exporting a CSV into another tool. The listing was updated on 28 October 2026. The add-on itself is listed free of charge.
This page is the launch guide: what the Workspace add-on does, how to install it, how a send actually runs, and where it stops so you do not burn a quality rating. Field mapping, Apps Script, and Zapier recipes live in the longer Google Sheets WhatsApp integration guide.
Too long? Start here
- Install: Ominiflow for Google Sheets on the Google Workspace Marketplace
- Open the sender: in the spreadsheet menu, Ominiflow → Open WhatsApp Sender
- Connect: API token from Ominiflow → Developers → API Keys
- Send: choose an approved template, map sheet columns to
{{1}},{{2}},{{name}}, or{{amount}}, then start - The add-on writes a SENT status and a timestamp back to the sheet
- Business-initiated WhatsApp still needs an approved template and a real opt-in for marketing
- Phone numbers in E.164 without a plus:
919876543210 - Marketplace price: free of charge. You still need an Ominiflow workspace, and Meta conversation rates still apply
What this Google Workspace WhatsApp integration does
A WhatsApp Google Sheets add-on keeps the list where the team already works. Ominiflow for Google Sheets connects that spreadsheet to your Ominiflow workspace, which sends through Meta’s WhatsApp Business API. It is not a WhatsApp Web macro and it does not log into a personal phone.
From the Marketplace listing, the add-on does five jobs:
- Direct broadcasts — personalized messages to contacts in the sheet you have open
- Official templates — it fetches approved WhatsApp templates from your Ominiflow account, so you send the copy Meta already approved
- Column mapping — spreadsheet columns fill template variables in one step
- Status write-back — SENT and a timestamp land back on the row
- Throttling — built-in batching so a large list does not leave the account in one burst
Google grants the add-on access to spreadsheets it is installed in, plus the personal info on the Google account you authorize. It does not need access to every Sheet in the domain unless an admin installs it that way.
Install the add-on from the Workspace Marketplace
- Open the Ominiflow for Google Sheets listing and install it. Workspace admins may need to allow the app before members can add it.
- Open the spreadsheet that holds the contacts. Use the Ominiflow menu in the menu bar and choose Open WhatsApp Sender.
- Paste the API token from Ominiflow → Developers → API Keys. That token is how the sheet talks to your workspace. Treat it like a password: do not put it in a cell, a shared doc, or a screenshot.
- Confirm the sender can see your approved templates. If the list is empty, the token is for the wrong workspace or the templates are still in review.

How to send WhatsApp messages from Google Sheets
WhatsApp message automation from a spreadsheet is a short loop once the add-on is connected:
- Put one contact per row. Header row on row 1. Phone in its own column.
- Open WhatsApp Sender from the Ominiflow menu.
- Select the approved template and language.
- Map each template variable to a column. A column named
first_namecan fill{{name}}or{{1}}— the template’s variable order is what Meta delivers, not the column title. - Send to your own number first. Read the message on a phone. Check names, amounts, and links.
- Start the list. The add-on writes SENT and a timestamp on rows it has handed to the API.
Free-form text from a cell does not replace a template when you start the conversation. Outside the 24-hour customer-care window, Meta only delivers approved templates. If someone replies, the thread belongs in the Ominiflow inbox, not in a sheet cell.
Send WhatsApp template messages from Google Sheets
The sender loads templates from the connected Ominiflow account. You do not paste a new marketing paragraph into the sheet and expect WhatsApp to deliver it.
| Job | Template type | What the sheet supplies |
|---|---|---|
| Order, payment, or appointment update | Utility | Name, order id, amount, time |
| Opted-in offer or newsletter | Marketing | Name, offer, city — plus an opt-in column |
| Login or delivery code | Authentication | Use the OTP product path, not a marketing blast |
Map only variables that exist on the approved template. If the template has two body variables and you map three columns, the extra column is ignored or the send fails — test one row and read the result before the full list. Template rules: WhatsApp template message guide.
Bulk broadcasts and notification automation
Send bulk WhatsApp messages from Google Sheets when the rows are people who asked to hear from you, or who are due a transactional update you can prove. A Google Sheets WhatsApp broadcast is the same Meta campaign as a broadcast started in Ominiflow — the sheet is the audience, not a way around policy.
Use the sheet for notification automation when a row already means “this person should get this update”:
- Event registration — form responses land in Sheets; the add-on sends the confirmation template with name and slot
- Fee or invoice reminder — amount and due date are columns; utility template, not a promo
- Field list — a partner drops today’s leads; you send one approved intro, then replies go to the inbox
- Internal alert — a threshold row messages an on-call number you operate
The listing includes throttling and batching so a long sheet is paced. That protects the number. It does not make a cold purchased list safe. Start with a small opted-in segment, read blocks and reports, then continue. Broadcast limits: broadcast limits tutorial.
Sheet columns that keep sends clean
One header row. Unique phones. No + in the phone column.
| Column | Example | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| phone | 919876543210 | Recipient |
| first_name | Priya | {{1}} or {{name}} |
| amount | 2499 | {{amount}} or the next variable |
| lang | en | Which approved language to send |
| opt_in_date | 2026-10-01 | Required before any marketing template |
| status | SENT | Written back by the add-on |
| sent_at | timestamp | Written back by the add-on |
Filter marketing sends to rows where opt_in_date is filled and status is still empty. A ten-digit Indian mobile without 91 will fail. Normalize it in the sheet before you open the sender.
Add-on, dashboard connector, or Zapier
Three ways to run Google Sheets WhatsApp automation. Pick the one that matches who clicks send.
| Path | Best when | How you start |
|---|---|---|
| Workspace Marketplace add-on | The operator lives in the sheet and wants to send from the menu | Install, token, Open WhatsApp Sender |
| Ominiflow Google Sheets connector | You want scheduled sync, inbound rows from the chatbot, or inbox write-back beyond a SENT flag | Integrations → Google Sheets in the workspace |
| Zapier, Make, or Apps Script | The sheet is one step in a longer chain (form, email, Slack) | Zapier guide |
The add-on is the message sender. The connector is the sync. You can use both: campaign lists go out from the sheet menu; replies and lead capture stay in Ominiflow and can still append rows. When the list becomes a pipeline — owners, stages, revenue — move the system of record to HubSpot or Zoho CRM. Sheets is the right tool under a few hundred active rows, not a CRM substitute.
Opt-in, templates, and quality
- Marketing templates need prior opt-in. Store the date and source on the row. Skip rows that do not have it.
- Utility templates are for the customer’s own transaction: order, booking, payment, appointment. A discount code in a “shipping update” is a marketing message.
- Honour opt-outs on the next send. A STOP reply should blank that row out of every future marketing filter.
- Do not upload a bought list, a scraped group, or an old export “just to test the add-on.” Failed numbers and blocks are what get a business number limited.
- The add-on’s batching is a guardrail. Your list quality is the other half.
India conversation rates are Meta’s, not a markup inside the add-on. Current context: WhatsApp Business API in India. Plans: Ominiflow pricing.
Who should install it
- Ops and founders who already run campaigns from a sheet and want the send button in that sheet
- Event and education teams whose registrations arrive as form rows
- Agencies running one tab per client list, with a separate approved template per brand
- Teams leaving manual CSV upload who are not ready to remodel the list inside a CRM this quarter
Skip the add-on if every send must be a deal-stage trigger with owner routing. That is the HubSpot WhatsApp integration, not a spreadsheet menu.
Connect the sheet
Install Ominiflow for Google Sheets, send one test row to your own phone, then the opted-in segment. If you want the workspace connector, inbox, and broadcast manager wired with the sheet, the setup walkthrough is the Google Sheets broadcast and sync guide.

FAQ
What is the Ominiflow Google Sheets WhatsApp integration? expand_more
It is the Ominiflow for Google Sheets add-on on the Google Workspace Marketplace. It sends approved WhatsApp templates and bulk campaigns from a spreadsheet through the WhatsApp Business API, and writes SENT plus a timestamp back to the row.

Can I send bulk WhatsApp messages from Google Sheets? expand_more
Yes, as a broadcast of an approved template to rows in the sheet. Marketing rows need documented opt-in. The add-on paces the list with throttling and batching. A purchased or scraped list is not a valid audience.
Can I send WhatsApp template messages from a spreadsheet? expand_more
Yes. The sender fetches approved templates from your Ominiflow account. You map sheet columns to variables such as {{1}}, {{2}}, {{name}}, and {{amount}}. You cannot send unapproved free-form marketing copy outside the 24-hour session window.
Is this a WhatsApp Google Sheets add-on on the Workspace Marketplace? expand_more
Yes. The app name is Ominiflow for Google Sheets. Listing: https://workspace.google.com/marketplace/app/ominiflow_for_google_sheets/339330352778. Google updated that listing on 28 October 2026. The Marketplace price is free of charge.
Do I need Zapier for Google Sheets WhatsApp automation? expand_more
No. The add-on sends from the sheet menu, and Ominiflow also has a Google Sheets connector in the workspace. Use Zapier or Make when the sheet is one step in a longer automation.
What does the add-on cost? expand_more
The Google Workspace Marketplace listing is free of charge. You still need an Ominiflow workspace, and Meta charges conversation rates for messages you send. There is no separate Sheets add-on fee on top of that.
Does it write delivery status back to the sheet? expand_more
Yes. The add-on writes SENT and a timestamp onto the row after it hands the message to the API. Richer reply handling stays in the Ominiflow shared inbox. The dashboard connector can sync more fields if you need them.
What phone format should the sheet use? expand_more
E.164 with no plus sign and no spaces. An Indian mobile is 919876543210, not 9876543210 and not +91 98765 43210.
Can I automate WhatsApp notifications from Google Sheets? expand_more
Yes for updates you can justify with a template: registration confirmations, payment reminders, appointment details. Put one recipient per row, map the variables, and send only rows that match the template’s category and opt-in rules.
Is the add-on the same as the Ominiflow Google Sheets connector? expand_more
No. The add-on is the in-sheet sender on the Workspace Marketplace. The connector is the workspace integration for list sync and inbound logging. Many teams use the add-on to send and the inbox to handle replies.
What Google permissions does the add-on request? expand_more
It asks to view and manage spreadsheets it is installed in, and to see personal info on the Google account you use to install it. Published 31 October 2026. Marketplace listing checked 28 October 2026.
