What is WhatsApp Seasonal Sales Central?

57% of APAC festive shoppers already message businesses. Meta’s Seasonal Sales Playbook lists seven WhatsApp journeys — leads, promotions, consultative selling, store traffic, upsell, cart recovery, and order updates. Here is how to run them on Cloud API before Diwali and Black Friday. It is WhatsApp for Business’s resource hub for ecommerce and retail messaging around Black Friday, Diwali, and other shopping peaks. It points to the Seasonal Sales Playbook (seven journeys), a campaign timeline, marketing-message best practices, and order-status automation guides.

Last updated: 30 August 2026

Seasonal peaks are not a bigger blast. They are a compressed version of the full customer lifecycle — discovery, deal, checkout, “where is my order,” and the next cart — in one WhatsApp thread. WhatsApp for Business collected that into Seasonal Sales Central: a playbook, campaign timeline, marketing-message rules, and order-status automation, aimed at Black Friday, Diwali, Double Days, El Buen Fin, and the rest of the shopping calendar.

This recap keeps that resource library intact — YouGov shopper research, seven messaging journeys, and the “start now” timeline — then maps each journey to official Cloud API on Ominiflow: Click-to-WhatsApp ads, approved Marketing and Utility templates, Shopify events, COD confirm, and a shared inbox that survives peak week.

Primary hub: Seasonal Sales Central. Playbook: The Seasonal Sales Playbook (PDF, April 2026 library). Companion: 7 ways to grow during Diwali, Black Friday, and festive sales (13 May 2025). Shopper stats: YouGov Seasonal Holidays Study for Meta (18,727 shoppers, Dec 2024). Named brand lifts in the PDF are self-reported and not Ominiflow results.

Why festive shoppers pick WhatsApp

Kantar (March 2024, Meta-commissioned) found 74% of online adults want to talk to businesses the same way they talk to friends — messaging. In peak weeks that preference gets louder. YouGov’s holiday study: among seasonal shoppers who had already messaged a business, 85% use Meta technologies and 47% globally use WhatsApp.

The 7-strategies write-up adds the APAC festive picture: 72% of APAC shoppers in 2024 waited for discount events to buy what they already needed, and 58% of shoppers globally say Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are likely to influence the purchase. Time spent online goes up (66% in APAC). If your only festive channel is email, you are in the noisy inbox. If your only festive channel is a Marketing blast with no order updates, you trained the customer to mute you before the sale even started — the same compounding Meta and BCG measured in the orchestration playbook.

The seven journeys (run all of them on one Cloud API number)

Meta’s framework is entry point → in-thread experience → conversion. Ads, QR codes, and checkout opt-in start the thread. Catalog, Flows, AI, and humans move it. Purchase, booking, or a confirmed COD is the conversion. Do not stand up a second unofficial number “just for Diwali.” Step-by-step on each play: 7 ways to grow in festive sales.

1. Generate new leads before the surge

The playbook’s point: a pipeline you built in September converts in October. Click-to-WhatsApp on Facebook and Instagram (and Status in the Updates tab) starts a thread with people who already tapped. In-thread: coupon, Q&A qualify, WhatsApp Flows form, then explicit opt-in for later Marketing. PediaSure reported 64% lower cost per lead vs its usual campaign in a Meta A/B test (11–25 July 2023) — self-reported, not a guarantee.

Night-time festive ads still need a bot. Dead first reply is paid waste. Setup: store chatbot.

2. Promotions that are expected, not sprayed

Once opted in, Marketing templates carry the sale: VIP 24-hour early access, countdown, last-chance. Meta’s marketing best-practice sheet is blunt: map seasonal moments, cap frequency, coordinate so two teams do not hit the same phone, watch quality rating. A coffee brand in the playbook reported 3× conversion vs SMS on promotional notifications — again self-reported.

Copy rules we already use: right segment, one-tap path to the SKU, a reason to act now, details on the first screen — four fixes. Ready copy: Diwali and Black Friday.

3. Consultative shopping for high-consideration SKUs

Diwali jewellery, festival electronics, salon packages: shoppers expect answers, not a homepage. Catalog + AI for patterned questions + human in the inbox for “is this 22K” or “will it arrive before Dhanteras.” The playbook cites an 11× revenue lift attributed to personalized shopping on the Business Platform (self-reported). On Ominiflow that is catalog nodes and collision-locked agents, not a personal phone.

4. Online to offline

Physical stores still win festive walk-ins. CTWA or a Marketing invite → Flows booking → Utility reminder for the appointment or BOPIS pickup. A loyalty example in the PDF: 4× more members per month via WhatsApp vs SMS and in-store registration (self-reported). Retail templates and store hours belong in the same thread as the sale.

5–6. Upsell and cart recovery

Peak shoppers are in spending mode. Last order and browse events are the clues. Cross-sell as Marketing to opted-in buyers; suggest an add-on inside an open consultative chat. Abandoned carts: trigger from Shopify, deep-link the cart, do not mix a 40% off Marketing footer onto a “you left items” Utility if the category is wrong. Playbook range for cart-recovery conversion uplift attributable to WhatsApp: 50–83% (self-reported). Ominiflow path: Shopify workflows · remarketing.

7. Fulfillment so WISMO does not eat the inbox

YouGov: 43% used messaging to track orders. Automate confirmations, shipping, pickup, and delivery on Utility before the surge — recap: order-status utility messages. The playbook cites 50% lower call-center wait times attributable to WhatsApp (self-reported). India D2C add COD confirm before dispatch — festive RTO will otherwise erase the Marketing ROI. Guide: COD confirmation.

Start now: a practical calendar

WhatsApp’s holiday timeline one-sheet says consumers plan early — 13% started shopping before November in the prior year. Official offsets (1–2 months to ready the channel, launch at least 2 weeks before peak, 7-day follow-up): how and when to plan the campaign. Use this as a default (slide dates for Diwali vs Black Friday 27 Nov 2026 vs 11.11).

T-8 to T-6 weeks

Foundation

Cloud API live, Shopify/Zoho connected, Authentication + Utility templates green. Collect opt-in at checkout and via CTWA. Do not buy a cold CSV.

T-4 to T-2 weeks

Warm and segment

Submit Marketing templates. VIP / 90-day buyers / lapsed. Cart and COD flows on. Staff the inbox for peak hours. Pause if quality goes yellow.

T-14 to T-1 days

Tease, do not dump the offer

Early-access to VIP only. One countdown. Frequency cap. Holiday away/greeting messages so nights are not silence — recap: 5 holiday tips (Business app vs API).

Peak week

Few Marketing sends, lots of Utility

One or two sale broadcasts per day max to engaged segments. Everything else is order, COD, WISMO, talk-to-human. Then post-peak: thank-you Utility, then a single win-back Marketing to non-buyers who still opted in.

How this maps to Ominiflow

Seasonal Sales Central assumes a Business Messaging Partner for journeys, Shopify, and measurement. Ominiflow is that layer on official Cloud API: template library, visual flows, shared inbox, Meta fees at cost, AI included. Acquire (CTWA / Status ads) → Qualify → Sell → Collect (COD) → Support (WISMO) → Retain sits on WhatsApp Revenue OS — the festive calendar is the same OS with a deadline.

What not to do in peak week

  • Unofficial bulk senders — bans land when you can least afford a new number
  • Marketing on a thread that never sent an order update — mute and block spike; quality rating drops mid-sale
  • Channel followers treated as Cloud API opt-in — they are not
  • One blast to the whole list on Diwali morning — segment VIP, engaged, lapsed; cap frequency
  • No human gate — festive high-AOV still needs “talk to human” in the inbox

FAQ

What is WhatsApp Seasonal Sales Central? expand_more

It is WhatsApp for Business's resource hub for ecommerce and retail messaging around Black Friday, Diwali, and other shopping peaks. It points to the Seasonal Sales Playbook (seven journeys), a campaign timeline, marketing-message best practices, and order-status automation guides.

What are the seven WhatsApp festive sales strategies? expand_more

Generate leads, deliver promotions, offer consultative shopping, drive online-to-offline traffic, cross-sell and upsell, recover abandoned carts, and automate fulfillment updates. Meta's playbook maps each to a messaging journey: entry point, in-thread experience, conversion.

When should I start WhatsApp campaigns for Diwali or Black Friday? expand_more

Four to eight weeks out: Cloud API live, Utility templates approved, opt-in list growing, cart and COD flows on. Marketing templates and VIP teasers in the last two weeks. Starting on festival week is usually too late for template review and quality warm-up.

Do festive WhatsApp promotions need opt-in? expand_more

Yes. Marketing templates only to people who opted in. Click-to-WhatsApp and Status-ad chats open a service window; they are not a licence to blast the sale after it closes. Utility order updates follow customer expectation, not a promo footer.

How do I run this on Ominiflow? expand_more

Connect Cloud API and Shopify, submit Diwali or Black Friday Marketing templates plus Utility order/COD templates, route CTWA into a qualifier bot, and staff the shared inbox. Meta conversation fees pass at cost. Typical go-live is 5-7 business days with complete Business Manager documents.
